Gernika Basque Pub and Eatery 202 S Capitol Blvd (208) 344-2175 Open Monday - Saturday |
Such a "neat" place, but small. It's like entering another world or place in time. It's a happy place - a friendly place. Brick walls; a huge wooden bar; smells of cooking lamb - spices, chorizos, garlic! | It's a pub, but the food is not presented in baskets lined with butchers paper. The food comes on plates. Nothing fancy, but presented well. | Menu items include a wide range of sandwiches, soups, salads, Basque sandwiches and dishes (Solomo, paella) and snacks and side dishes. The quality of the food is good. | The service personel are friendly and at times funny. They treat you like you are at home. They are not overbearing, but are there to help you. | Prices are fair and range from $2.25 (side house salad) to $8.25 (lamb grinder - which is wonderful!). There is a full range of beverages and fountain items. | Yes, we would take friends and relatives to Gernika. Take your friends and take Mom. A fun experience and I suppose at times, it can get loud and crowded. When you enter Gernika, you enter the Basque country. |
